The MSc thesis of Vincent van Altena (UNIGIS MSc course has been awarded with the 2015 UNIGIS International Academic Excellence Award. In his MSc research Vincent (also employee at Dutch Kadaster) proposed and evaluated a method to improve automatic generalisation of manmade water networks for topographic maps by context-dependent pruning. A jury of international GIS-experts evaluated the nominations from all UNIGIS sites and awarded Vincent’s thesis. Vincent did his MSc under supervision of Jantien Stoter.
